Many clients originally came to us to repair a bad outcome of work they had done elsewhere, or because they want a change from old work they consider to be out of style (goodbye cats’ eyes!). Saline pigment removal is the treatment of choice in those situations. We can remove as little or as much pigment as wanted to achieve the look you desire. The saline treatment uses osmosis to draw the old pigment out of the skin. We are happy to review your situation and explain the process to you.
LIGHTENING AND REMOVAL OF SMALL ARTISTIC TATTOOS WITH SALINE
Do you have a tattoo that has faded or discolored? Maybe the tattooist didn’t do that great a job. Or perhaps you’ve just outgrown the design. But you’d rather not go the laser removal route. Good news … you have options! Adorn Cosmetic offers saline treatment to lighten or remove tattoos. Saline tattoo removal is a relatively new procedure that serves as a natural alternative to the well-known laser removal technique. If your tattoo is smaller (2”x2” or less) we can help.
HOW DOES SALINE TATTOO LIGHTENING WORK?
Saline is simply salt + water. Saline treatment lightens tattoos and, when done as a series of treatments, can remove them. We use a manual tool or machine to inject saline solution into the areas of unwanted ink. Saline tattoo removal uses osmosis to persuade the cells to release the ink or pigment and to draw it out from under the skin. This procedure will be accompanied by some minor bleeding and could potentially bruise a bit (this is uncommon) so please plan ahead for that if you have trips or events coming up. The top layer of skin will form a scab. As the skin heals, the tattoo will gradually lighten.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL IT TAKE TO REMOVE THE TATTOO?
Well, it depends. There are several factors that affect your skin’s reaction. The size of the area to be treated, the type of pigment, the depth of ink insertion, the age of the tattoo, the location on the body of the tattoo, how the skin reacts to treatment and healing, how well the client follows the aftercare recommendations -- all of these can affect the process. On rare occasions, a tattoo will fade away after only one procedure. But be prepared for it to take more than one. However, we’ll have a good idea of your response after the first treatment has healed and will be able to gauge what it will take to achieve the effect you want. Once treatments have ended, lightning will typically continue for several months.
LASER TATTOO REMOVAL OR SALINE TREATMENT?
LASER treatment breaks up the tattoo ink under the skin, where it is absorbed by the body. With SALINE, the ink is lifted up out of the skin via osmosis, so it is removed from the body.
LASER treatment requires a different wavelength of light for each different color, and it cannot remove white ink. SALINE removes all colors of ink.
LASER treatment can damage hair follicles. SALINE does not.
LASER cannot be used around the eyes. SALINE is safe to use around the eyes.
Some skin types, especially darker skin tones, are prone to burns or pigment problems, even scarring, with LASER. SALINE typically does not have these complications.
